Description

The Strategic Sourcing and Procurement team is responsible for third party vendor relationships and agreements at Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Strategic Sourcing team covering Technology and Production/Post Production is looking for an intern who can assist Managers and Directors to identify opportunities to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and improve profit for Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). The team covers SPE spend related to Information Technology, cloud computing (IaaS, SaaS), media asset management, content preparation and distribution. It works with internal stakeholders across Divisions (Corporate, TV, Motion Picture Group, Home Entertainment) to identify cost-saving and value creation opportunities, examine insource/outsource scenarios, and negotiate with external providers for products and services in Technology and Production/Post Production

Work on one or more projects. One of the projects is to look into SPE's Data Storage Infrastructure, Digital Asset Storage and Management Solutions, Film Archiving and Digitization Workflow and Strategy. In a media and entertainment company like SPE, the cost to store/preserve information records, as well as film and digital media has increased tremendously over the years. Intern will have to identify as-is landscape including workflow and costs on what SPE currently does, compare and benchmark against industry best practices, examine the total cost of ownership (TCO), and finally propose a to-be solution that fulfill diverse stakeholders' requirements and while reducing overall TCO for SPE.

Benefit from gaining insights to media entertainment industry, and exposure to various technology users within traditional IT organization and digital media side of the business. Enhance skills in communication, market research, project management, financial modeling and analysis, presentation to executives.

Qualifications

Any subset of the following:
Experience and/or interest in Media and Entertainment industry
Experience and/or interest in Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement
Experience and/or interest in Technology (e.g. IT hardware, software and services), including recent trends in the industry (e.g. cloud computing)
Experience and/or interest in Production and Post-production (e.g. encoding, transcoding, subtitling), content management and distribution

Strongly desired skills:
Ability to perform make versus buy, insource vs outsource analyses and examine total cost of ownership
Strong process mapping, financial modeling and analytical skills
Solid Excel, Visio PowerPoint skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Consulting experience is a plus
