Procurement Lead - Packaging
Kate Somerville Skincare is looking for an energetic, highly motivated professional to join the business as Procurement Lead - Packaging.
In this role, you will play a critical part in managing our procurement processes and driving packaging innovation to enhance our brand's image and customer experience.

Reporting into the Sr.
Manager of Supply Chain Planning and Procurement, this role is a blend of package engineering and procurement.
The role is accountable for package design, cost and contract negotiation with suppliers, supplier performance, component inventory strategy and product cost/margin.
The role will work closely with the leads in the rest of the business (Product Development, Marketing, R&D, Quality, and Finance), playing a critical role in delivering key company projects/initiatives such as new product innovation, sustainability, waste reduction, and margin improvement.

This is a hybrid position and requires being in our El Segundo office 2 days/week (currently Tue & Wed).
Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy and Execution:
Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure the best value for the company.
Plan and execute purchase orders and manage suppliers to deliver on-time Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and new packaging materials.
Core KPIs On time delivery of package components Landed Package component cost - inclusive of component production, inbound freight, customs, and duties 2.
Packaging Design and Development:
Lead the design and development of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for our skincare products.
Work closely with the product development team to understand product requirements and translate them into effective packaging designs.
Conduct feasibility studies to assess the suitability of different packaging materials and processes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and sustainability standards in packaging design and materials selection.
Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize packaging efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.

Supplier Management:
Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, including performance evaluations, issue resolution, and contract negotiations.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality packaging materials while maintaining cost and quality targets.
Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards.
Identify opportunities to streamline the supply chain, improve lead times, and reduce costs without compromising quality.
4.
Project Management:
Plan and execute procurement and packaging projects, coordinating timelines, resources, and stakeholders.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement mitigation strategies.
Track and report on key performance indicators related to procurement and packaging, providing insights for decision-making and process improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
2-5 years proven experience in procurement and packaging engineering, preferably in the skincare, cosmetics, or beauty industry.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and design principles.
Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulations related to packaging.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Proficiency in project management techniques, including planning, organizing, and managing multiple priorities.
Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics for decision-making.
Experience with ERP systems and processes - experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle Supply Chain Planning Cloud a plus Strong proficiency in Excel building complex models and analyzing large data sets.
The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000.
The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location and budget.
This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
